コリント人への手紙 第一 15章
“The True Gospel”
第一コリント15章では、パウロは厄介な問題を抱えているコリント教会を引き続き取り上げています。幸いなことに、現代のクリスチャンは、1世紀のコリント教会の問題を取り上げたパウロの手紙によって祝福されています。なぜなら、私たちが肉の中で生きている限り、コリント教会の人々と同じように、問題は確実に続いていくからです。
コリント教会には、偽りの福音を広め始めたグループがあったようです。コリント人の中には、キリストは死ななかったと主張するような偽りの福音を宣べ伝え始めた者がいたようです。
パウロはこの異端を二段階に分けて叱責しました。まず、パウロはコリントの信徒たちに、自分自身が受けた福音をそのまま、変えずに伝えていることを思い起こさせました（3節）。そして、パウロは再び福音を宣べ伝えることによって、真の福音を彼らに思い出させました。
「私があなたがたに最も大切なこととして伝えたのは、私も受けたことであって、次のことです。キリストは、聖書に書いてあるとおりに、私たちの罪のために死なれたこと、また、葬られたこと、また、聖書に書いてあるとおりに、三日目によみがえられたこと、また、ケファに現れ、それから十二弟子に現れたことです。その後、キリストは五百人以上の兄弟たちに同時に現れました。その中にはすでに眠った人も何人かいますが、大多数は今なお生き残っています。」（3〜６節 新改訳2017）
第二に、パウロは福音のかけがえのない要素、つまりイエスの死と復活を強調しました。もし、イエス・キリストが死から復活されなかったら、キリスト教のすべてが崩れ、崩壊してしまうからです。これはキリスト教の最も本質的な教義を含む節です。
パウロはこう説明しています。「もし死者の復活がないとしたら、キリストもよみがえらなかったでしょう。そして、キリストがよみがえらなかったとしたら、私たちの宣教は空しく、あなたがたの信仰も空しいものとなります。私たちは神についての偽証人ということにさえなります。なぜなら、かりに死者がよみがえらないとしたら、神はキリストをよみがえらせなかったはずなのに、私たちは神がキリストをよみがえらせたと言って、神に逆らう証言をしたことになるからです。もし死者がよみがえらないとしたら、キリストもよみがえらなかったでしょう。そして、もしキリストがよみがえらなかったとしたら、あなたがたの信仰は空しく、あなたがたは今もなお自分の罪の中にいます。そうだとしたら、キリストにあって眠った者たちは、滅んでしまったことになります。もし私たちが、この地上のいのちにおいてのみ、キリストに望みを抱いているのなら、私たちはすべての人の中で一番哀れな者です。」（13〜19節）
今日、多くの人々が、キリストは死からよみがえらなかったと信じ続けています。例えば、イスラム教では、イエスは預言者であったが、十字架上で死ななかったし、死からよみがえらなかったと教えています。また、イエスは十字架上で死なれたが、その遺体は強盗に奪われたと偽りの主張をする者もいます。
エマオの途上のイエスの弟子たちが、復活したイエスに気づかなかったのは、それがイエスではなく、イエスに似た別人だったからだと主張して、偽りの福音を主張し続けています。
興味深いことに、パウロもこの議論に言及しています。「また、天上のからだもあり、地上のからだもあり、天上のからだの輝きと地上のからだの輝きは異なり。」（40節）
真の福音を信じる者、イエスの弟子である私たちも、いつかキリストと対面するとき、新しい天上の体を持つことになるのです。
父なる神さま、今日の御言葉をありがとうございます。あなたがこの地上で私たちに与えてくださった命、そしてあなたの御子イエス・キリストを通して私たちに与えてくださった永遠の命に感謝します。
あなたの御子イエスさまを信じる者はみな救われることを証しする福音書を感謝します。真の福音を私たちにもたらすために、歴史の中ですべてのクリスチャンの中に働き続けてくださっているあなたの霊に感謝します。
あなたの霊が私たちのうちに働き続け、私たちもパウロと私たちを救ってくれた同じ福音をこの暗い世界の人々に広め続けることができますように。

In 1 Corinthians 15, Paul continues to address the troublesome Corinthian Church. Fortunately, modern-day Christians are blessed by Paul’s letters addressing the problems of the First-Century Corinthian church because as long as we live in the flesh, our problems, just like those in the Corinthian church, will be sure to continue. Apparently, there were groups in the Corinthian church that started to spread a false gospel. Some of the Corinthians began to preach a false gospel that may have claimed that Christ never died. Paul rebuked this heresy in two stages. First, Paul reminded the Corinthian believers that he preached to them the same Gospel that he himself received, just as it is, unchanged (v.3). Paul then reminded them of the true Gospel by preaching it again: “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:3-6, ESV).
Second, Paul stressed the irreplicable element of the Gospel, which is the death and resurrection of Jesus. This is the verse that contains the most essential Christian doctrine because if Jesus Christ were not resurrected from the dead, all of Christianity would crumble and fall apart. Paul explains: “But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied” (1 Corinthians 15:13-19 ESV).
Many people today continue to believe that Christ was never raised from the dead. For example, Islam teaches that Jesus was a prophet but did not die on the cross and was not raised from the dead. Others falsely claim that Jesus did die on the cross, but his body was stolen by robbers. They continue their false gospel by claiming that reason why Jesus’ disciples did not notice Him after the resurrection was because it was not Jesus, but someone else that looked like Him. Interestingly, Paul also addresses this argument: “There are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies, but the glory of the heavenly is of one kind, and the glory of the earthly is of another” (1 Corinthians 15:40 ESV). As believers in the true Gospel and disciples of Jesus, we, too, will one day be in our new heavenly bodies when we meet Christ face to face.
Thank You, Father, for today’s Word. Thank You for the life that You gave us here on earth, and thank You for the eternal lives that You granted us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the Gospel, which testifies that all who believe in Your Son Jesus will be saved. Thank You for Your Spirit that continued to work in every Christian throughout history to bring the true Gospel to us. May Your Spirit continue to work in us so we, too, can continue to spread the same Gospel that saved Paul and us to the people of this dark world. Thank You, Father. We love You, Father. In Jesus’ Name, we pray, amen.
